(page 6) Dauntless runs on 5/8/08…fire imminent
This is about how the 2a is sitting right now, rolled it into the garage with all the heavy rain we’ve been getting. but before the radiator did finially kick the bucket we got a good amount of rotations out of the motor. at the bottom of the page is a video of it running.
unfortunatly i didn’t have alot of pictures of the body work as it happened. but the “parts” of the body that were replaced included the bed, both floor pans, the cowl (transplanted from the 1950’s body), the side pannels by your feet, the entire rear & quarters and a miriad of small patches all over the place and the dash….maybe it would just be easier to say with two 4×8 sheets of 14ga sheetmetal i basicly build a willys body tube with a welder and a vice.
the question remains..was it cheaper than just buying a new one? ask my retinas.
the body arrived on a trailer pulled by lynz’s jeep. and we threw it on and things really came together. this frame and engine became a jeep almost as soon as we lowered it on, and the 63 reamining days didn’t seem as looming.
it felt even more real when the motor turned over and fired..as you can see it was about 3am when this mufflerless beast started shooting flames. i think nate descibed it as .45 calibers going off..just every half a second. plus we were inside the garage.
i’m popular with the neighbors no doubt.
here’s the youtube video i posted yesterday, you can see the ignition “key” i used, and the recently installed cherrybombs. with some clutch linkage and a gas pedal we’ll be able to drive.
next on the list are bodymounts, and hat channel and finially the orange paint to really make it look complete.
btw if any of you guys at universal tire are reading…check out those sweet tires…help. haha
